SOUTHSIDE BMX CLUB CODE OF CONDUCT

1. Keep it G Rated:

Please don’t use offensive language in staging, on the gate, or at the finish line.

2. Harassment-Free Zone:

Insults intended to harass, intimidate, or put others down are not acceptable. We are all here for the same reason – to have fun riding bikes. Everyone needs to have that chance and feel stoked about doing it. Remember, this also relates to any kind of online / virtual harassment too!

3. No Abusive Nonsense:

Verbal or physical abuse, as well as threats of physical harm (as a “joke”or otherwise) are not on. Everyone should treat each other with dignity and respect.

4. “Rubbing is Racing” but Play Fair:

We know that BMX is a contact sport, but general unsportsmanlike behaviour will not be accepted. Doing or saying things on the gate / track, or anywhere else, with no reason other than to screw up someone else’s race are a big no-no.

5. Stewards' Authority:

All of our volunteers (who are here to make sure you have a great time) can, and will, report issues to the Race Steward if you are going to be a peanut. What they say goes, so please listen to them. Everyone deserves a second chance, so if a volunteer or an official today asks you to do, or stop doing, something – it’s OK, just listen to their advice and go with it. You’ll be given the opportunity to carry on. BUT – third chances aren’t a thing, so if someone needs to say something to you again we will take action, and this can include (but isn’t limited to) disqualifications, loss of club points, and bans from future Southside events (we really don’t want to do this last one, so be cool OK?). Last thing – The Southside committee and our awesome volunteers all do what they do because we love the sport, and we love seeing everyone else enjoy it too. If you see, hear, witness or experience something that you believe is not OK, please approach one of us and have a quiet word. Your comment will be taken seriously, and in confidence.
